US officials are investigating several cases of people, mainly teenagers, who were hospitalized with severe lung injuries after compulsive vaping.
According to health departments all over the US, these cases involved patients who manifested coughs, shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue. All these symptoms led them to hospitals where they were intubated.
Officials claimed that it was to earlier to say whether these cases were connected to vaping. Most of them involved the vaping of weed-based products.
Thomas Haupt, an epidemiologist, affirmed that he intends to interview all the patients in order to find out any commonalities.
E-cigarettes have been available in the US since 2006, and scientists consider these cigarettes to be less toxic than smoking. By 2018, more than 3.6 million adolescents used vaping as an alternative to smoking.
Finally, experts advise parents to talk to their children about this and support as well as protect them from this alternative, that, when massively consumed, could be lethal to health.
